Change the World with Ideas Positive!

Around August last 2010 was a busy time for us seniors. We were just nearing to finish the first half of our final year in the university and everyone was just busy with their theses and OJT reports. Despite more toxic days to come, we took on challenges and attended various seminars/competitions/workshops to build our soon to be fresh graduate resume.

Among those things that kept us busy was Unilab’s Ideas Positive. Itching for opportunities where we can prove our talents and skills for the last time while carrying the university’s name, we added this project proposal competition to our list of TTDs (Things To Do). Not to mention that one of our instructors who was with Unilab looked quite down because no one wanted to add a project proposal on top of our other project proposals for various subjects. Maybe we wanted to cheer him up, and earn additional points in his subject? Who knows.

Here’s a sneak at what we did:

Together with my friends, we worked on this for around a month dividing work among us and trying to fit actual interviews with our chosen community to our already busy schedules. It was a little dangerous where we went, but we felt that that community needed our and Unilab’s help the most. More than once, we had overnights where one person is usually assigned to do the creative part of the presentation, another would edit the videos, and the one handy-with-words would turn our bulleted ideas into paragraphs.

We did our best and gave our all. But we didn’t win. However, we won an unforgettable memory where we strengthened our friendship and learned to use our God-given gifts to help the community. Ah cheese~

Anyway, this opportunity is back for college kids who wish to transform the Filipino community!

Believing in the youth’s ideas and their desire to make a positive difference, Unilab Ideas Positive, a social marketing clinic and competition-in-one, provides a venue for college students to share their innovative and sustainable ideas to address the health and wellness concerns of their communities—and turn those ideas into reality.

To help the youth turn their ideas into concrete health and wellness programs for their communities, Unilab Ideas Positive provides them with:

Now on its third year, Unilab Ideas Positive gets even better with a focus not only on positive ideas, but also on positive outcomes—creating a difference where it matters, in partnership with the Filipino youth.

What’s new this 2012?

Great news to my friends in Mindanao! Unilab Ideas Positive is now expanding from Metro Manila to the entire Philippines, covering North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. More college students will, thus, have an opportunity to help transform their chosen communities with their social marketing ideas.

And because more positive ideas will be developed, more communities will benefit. Fifteen (15) teams will each be given Php100,000 seed money from Unilab Foundation for the implementation of social marketing programs—a total of Php1.5 million seed money.

Indeed, it’s an even more exciting Unilab Ideas Positive this year with bigger prizes at stake. But more than the prizes, it’s the opportunity to come together for a shared goal of a healthier nation that makes Unilab Ideas Positive a rewarding venue for the Filipino youth to make a significant contribution where it is needed most.

Want to be part of this transformative journey towards a healthier Philippines? It’s time for you to team up for a healthier nation!
