DIY: Fruit Cake

I made this fruit cake because I missed baking and I have a fruity deal with my mom. She always orders 6k worth of fruit cake to gift her friends. And she told me that she’ll order from me instead if I learned how to make one. So here’s my first ever fruit cake.

Apparently, I made the light-colored one (the end color depends on the color of the ingredients you used). It appears that brown sugar isn’t dark enough.

Anyhoo, the taste is okay. Actually, it tasted awesome. Just the right amount of zest, fruit, and alcohol. The only downside is, it is quite dry. I wonder if it is because of my very small oven (very near heat source = super dry outside) or because of the baking powder. Or the fact that I didn’t put the juice of one orange. Oh dear, this must be it. *realization* See, the ingredients didn’t say whether it was a teaspoon or a cup of orange juice so I just put around 2 small slices and ate the rest. 0_o

Check out this site for the recipe.

Remember, if your oven is small like mine (that which you can only put one medium loaf pan inside at a time) or if you forgot to put all the orange juice, you might wanna use just 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder instead of 1.

Just don’t forget the orange juice okay!

At least, this tastes quite good. This is what I’ll be serving people who’ll drop by my house. Haha! Bawi nalang sa orange juice with an actual glass of orange juice pantulak.
